Schools
Host Air Quality Sensors
We are offering free air quality sensors to schools that allow them to monitor air pollution levels in real-time and receive air quality alerts. The sensor is about the size of a smoke detector, is ultra quiet and has extremely low power requirements. One sensor will be installed in a protected location outside the school building, while two others will be placed inside. Access to electrical power is required. Connectivity options, including WiFi, PoE, and cellular networks, are available. Our team will handle the installation and configuration of the sensors and will provide guidance to hosts on accessing and interpreting the data.
Request an Energy Assessment
We also offer free energy assessments for schools to identify opportunities for improving energy efficiency and reducing costs. Our team will offer a set of recommendations to improve energy efficiency, including options that don't require infrastructure upgrades.
Receive Air Filters and Cleaners
Participating schools will also receive free air filters and air cleaners.
School Staff and Community Members
Attend Community Meetings and Workshops
We will host in-person workshops and participate in/organize community meetings to raise awareness of indoor air quality issues, demonstrate how to use air quality sensors and interpret their data, and provide guidance on HVAC system adjustments. The workshops will also include training on using the phone apps and distributing educational materials.

Classroom Visits
Our award-winning outreach team in the Chemical Engineering Department has developed interactive teaching modules that foster STEM interest. One popular activity teaches students how sensors work using Lego blocks. New modules will also be developed through this project.
