Here’s what you need to know about becoming part of our center through the University of Utah or Weber State University. See the degrees and certificates our trainees can attain, as well as our OEH student handbook, for further information about what each degree and certificate entails.
-Master of Occupational Health (MOH)
-Master of Science in Occupational Health (MSOH)
-PhD in Occupational and Environmental Health (OEH) (University of Utah)
Students planning to pursue an MOH, MSOH, or PhD in OEH degree must submit an application through the University of Utah’s SLATE portal. The University of Utah Office of Admissions requires applicants to have a bachelor’s degree and a GPA of 3.0 or higher on a 4.0 scale. International students must meet a standard English proficiency requirement.
Applicants will need to supply:
- College transcripts
- GRE test scores (if available, but not required)
- Statement of purpose (not to exceed 500 words)
- Letters of reference (two for MOH, three for MSOH and PhD)
- CV/resume
Applicants may be extended an interview as determined by the RMCOEH Faculty Admissions Committee.
Additional requirements for Industrial Hygiene program:
- Applicants seeking an MSOH through the Industrial Hygiene program must have completed the following college-level prerequisites: math, physics, biology, organic chemistry, and general chemistry.
Deadlines:
- Students primarily matriculate in the fall semester. Off-cycle matriculants may be accepted on a case-by-case basis. The priority application deadline is Feb. 15, though RMCOEH will continue to accept applications after that date.
-Master of Science in Mechanical Engineering (MSME)
-PhD in Mechanical Engineering (University of Utah)
Students with an engineering background in our Ergonomics and Safety and Occupational Injury Prevention programs may elect to pursue a Master of Science in Mechanical Engineering or PhD in Mechanical Engineering through the University of Utah Department of Mechanical Engineering. Occupational Medicine Residency (University of Utah)
Prospective residents must apply through ERAS in early fall to begin the program the following July 1. The RMCOEH Residency Committee reviews applications and invites prospective candidates for interviews in October and November. The program makes offers to candidates in mid-January on a uniform date agreed upon by the Occupational Medicine Residency Directors Association.
Bachelor's of Occupational and Environmental Health and Safety (Weber State University)
Students who wish to pursue a bachelor's of occupational and environmental health must apply through Weber State University.
Applicants will need to:
- Fill out an online application
- Pay a $30 nonrefundable application fee
- Submit the following:
- Official high school transcripts or GED documentation
- ACT/SAT scores (Not mandatory. They help determine math and English placement.)
- Official transcripts from any college or university, including concurrent enrollment and early college
Graduate Certificates
- Graduate Certificate in Occupational Health Nursing (Weber State University): Nurses must apply through Weber State University and can do so at any time. Applicants must hold a bachelor's degree, have an active RN license, and have a GPA of 3.0 or above.
