Interested in training at the Rocky Mountain Center for Occupational and Environmental Health (RMCOEH) and gaining the education to make a difference in the lives of workers? We can’t wait to hear from you.

Here’s what you need to know about becoming part of our center through the University of Utah or Weber State University. See the degrees and certificates our trainees can attain, as well as our OEH student handbook, for further information about what each degree and certificate entails.

Master of Occupational Health (MOH) (University of Utah)

Students planning to pursue an MOH degree must submit an application through the University of Utah’s ApplyYourself portal. The University of Utah Office of Admissions requires applicants to have a bachelor’s degree and a GPA of 3.0 or higher on a 4.0 scale. International students must meet a standard English proficiency requirement.

Applicants will need to supply:

  • College transcripts
  • GRE test scores (if available, but not required)
  • Statement of purpose (not to exceed 500 words)
  • Letters of reference (two for MOH, three for MSOH and PhD)
  • CV/resume

Applicants may be extended an interview as determined by the RMCOEH Faculty Admissions Committee.

Additional requirements for Industrial Hygiene program:

  • Students wishing to enter RMCOEH’s Industrial Hygiene program must submit an initial application through SOPHAS, then submit a secondary application through ApplyYourself.

Deadlines:

  • RMCOEH students primarily matriculate in the fall semester. Off-cycle matriculants may be accepted on a case-by-case basis. The priority application deadline is Feb. 15, though RMCOEH will continue to accept applications after that date.

Other Opportunities

Interested in pursuing an education in occupational and environmental health and safety but not ready to join RMCOEH? We have close relationships with two leading undergraduate programs in Utah that may be right for you.

  • Utah State University is home to one of only a handful of undergraduate industrial hygiene programs in the country. Graduates may choose to begin their careers in industrial hygiene after completing their degree at USU, but many opt to continue their training at RMCOEH.
  • Brigham Young University boasts a top-rate undergraduate environmental and occupational health program that equips students for a broad range of careers, or for success in graduate programs like the ones RMCOEH offers.
