Compensable Disability Forum

RMCOEH’s annual Compensable Disability Forum serves as a platform for professionals and employers to engage in dialogue and enhance their skills in addressing compensable disability issues within the workplace. The forum attracts a diverse group of attendees, including, attorneys, insurance adjusters, claims managers, risk managers, human resource managers, registered nurses, therapists, rehabilitation counselors, and more. Attendees have the opportunity to earn Continuing Education Units (CEUs), with additional credits given from various accrediting bodies such as adjuster hours from the state of Utah Insurance Department, Certified Case Manager Credits, and Certified Rehabilitation Counselor Credits. The forum has been submitted to the Montana Nurses Association for approval to award contact hours, leveraging their accreditation as an approver of continuing education by the American Nurses Credentialing Center's Commission on Accreditation.
Heat Stress Management Workshop
May 19-20, 2026
The Heat Stress Management Workshop will be led by Dr. Thomas Bernard of the University of South Florida and the Sunshine Education and Research Center. Participants will learn a practical template for a written heat stress management plan that aligns with OSHA’s draft rule, NIOSH best practices, and ACGIH guidelines. The workshop includes two modules that cover essential plan components, recognition and treatment of heat-related illnesses, and methods for estimating metabolic rate and refining exposure limits. It will be held at the Rocky Mountain Center and attendees are encouraged to bring a laptop.
Chemical Safety Training
The Mountain West OSHA Education Center, through the Susan Harwood Training Grant Program, is offering specialized, instructor-led training designed to help workers in high-hazard industries stay safe. This allows us to offer our high-level Chemical Absorption and Inhalation Hazards course to your team at no cost.
Utah Conference on Safety and Industrial Hygiene
October 8-9, 2026
Each autumn, RMCOEH hosts the Utah Conference on Safety and Industrial Hygiene, welcoming hundreds of professionals in occupational and environmental health and safety to the University of Utah campus. Over three days, attendees engage in a blend of learning and networking opportunities. The conference serves as a platform for the exchange of ideas and innovations concerning important issues in workplace safety, environmental health, and community well-being. The conference kicks off with short courses, and transitions into two days of immersive breakout sessions spotlighting current concerns in safety, industrial hygiene, and worker well-being.
Guest Lectures
RMCOEH regularly invites experts from various disciplines within occupational and environmental health and safety to speak at our center. These lectures cover topics ranging from commercial driver safety to violence against firefighters and provide unique educational opportunities for both our trainees and members of the public who are interested in occupational and environmental health and safety.
