Utah Conference on Safety and Industrial Hygiene

October 9-10, 2025

Each autumn, RMCOEH hosts the Utah Conference on Safety and Industrial Hygiene, welcoming hundreds of professionals in occupational and environmental health and safety to the University of Utah campus. Over three days, attendees engage in a blend of learning and networking opportunities. The conference serves as a platform for the exchange of ideas and innovations concerning important issues in workplace safety, environmental health, and community well-being. The conference kicks off with short courses, and transitions into two days of immersive breakout sessions spotlighting current concerns in safety, industrial hygiene, and worker well-being.

OEHS Journal Club

Journal Club involves two presenters each analyzing a peer-reviewed paper. The presenters describe and analyze: the purpose of the study, the study design, methods, results, strengths, and weaknesses. The presenters also facilitate a group discussion with attendees in which audience members ask questions, offer their opinions, and critique the research. Attendees both learn about the topic covered in the research and participate in critical analysis of the research itself.

Guest Lectures

RMCOEH offers online video lectures as an engaging method to earn Continuing Education Units (CEUs), requiring viewers to pass a 10-question quiz with a score of 80% or higher to earn credit, with each successful quiz granting 0.10 CEU. These lectures feature experts from diverse backgrounds in occupational and environmental health and safety, covering topics such as commercial driver safety and violence against firefighters. They provide valuable educational opportunities for both trainees and the public interested in these fields. Additionally, RMCOEH regularly hosts free, in-person lectures, welcoming anyone interested to attend.
