22nd Annual Utah NORA Young/New Investigators Symposium

RMCOEH’s 22nd Annual Utah NORA Young/New Investigators Symposium wrapped up on a high note, earning praise from attendees and organizers for its engaging sessions and fruitful networking opportunities. Held at the RMCOEH’s headquarters in downtown Salt Lake City on April 11 and 12, the event provided a unique platform for emerging researchers  in occupational and environmental health and safety to showcase their work.

Featuring 15 presenters and seven posters, the symposium buzzed with discussions and the exchange of ideas. The highlight of the event was the recognition of this year's BLOHSWEIC award winners for their outstanding contributions to the field. This year’s winners include:

  • Outstanding Podium Presentation First Place - Kai Pruyn
  • Outstanding Podium Presentation Second Place - Benjamin Mendelson
  • Outstanding Poster Presentation First Place - Mubo Olufemi

Dawn Castillo, Director of the Division of Safety Research at NIOSH, and Dr. Michael Belzer, an economics professor at Wayne State University, delivered inspiring talks, reaching an audience eager to learn and connect. But the symposium wasn't just about learning — it was also about building relationships and fostering professional growth in occupational health and safety.

As attendees departed, they left with newfound insights and connections, energized to apply what they learned and continue driving innovation in protecting the health and safety of workers.
