RMCOEH is grateful to receive support from employers that provide their own workers compensation coverage and workers compensation insurers through a law the Utah Legislature enacted in 2005 — and reauthorized in 2010 and 2020 — to help us fulfill our mission of protecting workers and serving businesses.
Employers that provide their own workers compensation coverage pay a “self-insurer’s tax” to the state, while insurers pay a tax on their income from workers compensation insurance premiums. The law offers a mechanism for these employers and insurance providers to receive a dollar-for-dollar offset on these taxes by contributing to RMCOEH.
How to Contribute?
The process for contributing to RMCOEH through this mechanism is simple.
Step 1: Contribute an amount up to 0.2% of the taxable premiums used to determine the self-insurer’s tax owed (employers) (see TC-420 tax form) or 0.2% of the total income from workers compensation insurance premiums (insurers) (see TC-49 tax form)
Step 2: We send you a receipt for the contribution
Step 3: Attach the receipt to your tax form
Step 4: Subtract the contribution from the tax owed, following instructions on your tax form
In return for your contribution, we will highlight your company below, as well as on our supporters page. And you will have the satisfaction of knowing that you and your company have played a critical role in our effort to save and improve the lives of workers and serve businesses.
