Occupational Medicine and Occupational Injury Prevention faculty are involved in several important aspects of the opioids epidemic. These include identification of the impacts of opioids prescriptions among injured workers on subsequent risk of fatality; systematic review and metanalysis of the effects of licit opioids on motor vehicle crashes; peer-reviewed evidence-based treatment guidelines; and impacts of opioids on various health outcomes. These efforts are led by Dr. Cheng, who is also dual trained in addiction medicine and occupational medicine.
