In a noteworthy academic achievement, University of Utah master’s student and RMCOEH trainee Taylor Cisneros has been awarded the BCSP Qualified Academic Program (QAP) Scholarship, a $5,000 grant presented by the Board of Certified Safety Professionals. The scholarship, aimed at recognizing outstanding individuals in the field of environmental health and safety (EHS), was awarded to Cisneros following a rigorous application process that highlighted both academic and professional commitment.
The BCSP QAP Scholarship is a testament to academic and professional merit. As part of the application, Cisneros submitted two essays, detailing her interest in the safety sector and outlining strategic plans for advancing EHS within industry. The application also required two letters of recommendation, one from a professor and the other from a professional in the safety field.
“The letters of recommendation I received were very kind and validated that my hard work is noticed and is making a difference,” said Cisneros, a first-year master’s student in RMCOEH’s Industrial Hygiene program.
The Board of Certified Safety Professionals only awards 40 national scholarships, making this honor particularly special for Cisneros.
“I was pretty excited when I found out I won,” she said. “$5,000 is a lot and will pay for my tuition next semester that my RMCOEH scholarship doesn't cover. So it is really helpful.”
