Frank Drews, PhD
I am enthusiastic about contributing my background in Applied Cognitive Psychology and Human Factors in Safety to the Occupational Health Psychology program at the Rocky Mountain Center for Occupational and Environmental Health. My expertise aligns with the program's goal of providing trainees with the knowledge to comprehend the intricate role of work in people's lives and intervene to safeguard workers' physical and mental well-being.
My previous work in Human Factors and patient safety in healthcare involved investigating the impact of CVC maintenance kits on adherence to best practices and infection rates. Additionally, I explored the effects of environmental factors and redesigned PPE on usability, adherence, and training requirements. I also conducted research on redesigned patient monitors for anesthesiologists and ICU nurses, utilizing high-fidelity simulation. Further, I developed simulation-based training for anesthesiologists, employing advanced Human Factors techniques to enhance airway management skills under challenging conditions.
