I have extensive experience in occupational safety and health and am well known nationally for my expertise, particularly in Agricultural Safety and Health. I have taught multiple OSH courses and lectures at RMCOEH and the University of Utah since 2014, including four of the six courses in an OSH Minor developed in the College of Health in 2019. I served as Co-Chair on the NIOSH’s Agriculture, Forestry and Fishing Sector Council from 2009 to 2020. In 1976 I began a career in insurance with the State Compensation Insurance Fund of California, then spent 25 years with Zenith Insurance Company in a variety of technical and management positions, ending as Senior Vice President and National Director of Safety & Health. Further, I have published multiple peer-reviewed journal articles regarding ergonomics, agricultural safety, and risk management and has also taught extension courses in Safety and Health at San Diego State University.
